The Library Foundation works to enhance the facilities and services of Jackson County's Libraries.
ENCOURAGING YOUNG PEOPLE TO READ
The Library Summer Reading Program, supported by Wal-Mart for the Summer of 2008, is also supported by the Jackson County Library Foundation because it is important to keep kids reading when school is out and the lazy days of summer begin. It is also important to encourage children to use the library and to become life-long readers and learners. The children themselves choose the books they read during the Summer Reading Program, so it is promoting literacy and reading for pleasure.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
JCLF is currently in the second phase of its Capital Campaign, raising individual and business donations to support beautiful public art, gardens, and flexible public space in the 15 branch library buildings. The campaign includes new technology in the facilities that will allow patrons to access information technology across the globe. Technical upgrades will include additional computers and high-speed Internet connections.
JCLF is also sponsoring the Read and Release program and the Buy-a-Shelf campaign.
