About Giving

Growing Up Reading

Enrichment is a main element in the mission of the Jackson
County Library Foundation, and the Foundation is now asking
for your help to enrich several elements of the library system with your annual gift.

Enriching the lives of families, babies and future generations of Jackson County citizens
Our newest program, Baby’s First Book, provides new mothers with an early literacy packet. Par- ents learn to read to their babies, and encourage the child’s relationship to words, while bond- ing with the baby in their laps. Reading to babies is nationally recognized as a way to encour- age brain development and improve cognitive skills.

Enriching opportunities for very young children and their families to learn
Babies and Wobblers in the Library is among the most successful and popular programs offered at JCLS for very little kids. Parents or caregivers attend a series of story times to engage babies (0-18 months) and small children (18-36 months) in learning from sounds, rhymes, songs and books. Adults and children both learn to communicate better!

Enriching the collection of materials available to library users
The growth in and demand for electronic books and music is phenomenal in this Year of the Digital Book! Our goal is to increase the number and variety of electronic book and audio book titles available to Jackson County from Library2Go.

Please send your contribution today in support of any of these programs and help us to attain a superb library system, enriching our quality of life and the lives of our children.

Some Ways to Give

Technology Gifts

Today’s public libraries are vital community technology hubs that millions of Americans rely on for their first and often only choice for Internet access. Despite increased demand for library computers, however, libraries typically have not seen a corresponding increase in budgets and many are challenged to provide enough computers or fast-enough connection speeds to meet demand.

Because of this, we are more than happy to accept donations to put towards the acquisition of newer and better technologies for all of our patrons to put to use for many years to come.

Endowment Program

An endowment fund is the total value of investments held indefinitely by an organization. When you donate to the JCLF endowment fund the principal of your contribution is invested, and the return interest provides income for the programs you, the donor, designate.

An endowment gift is a one-time, tax-deductible contribution. You can make the donation in your name, or in the name of a family member, friend – you decide.

Unlike other donations, an endowment continues generating income. By contributing to the endowment with the Foundation you provide a permanent resource for the Foundation to use to make annual payments to support the specific library programs you love and enjoy.

Buy-A-Shelf

The Buy-A-Shelf program was created to support your local library with a donation of $100. In recognition of your donation, a permanent engraved plaque is placed on a shelf of your choice in the library you wish to support. The Library Foundation accepts your gift, orders and delivers the plaque to your local branch manager, and you work with that person to determine your placement.

Buy-A-Shelf is a great way to direct your funds to your local branch, and in doing so, recognize someone or something in a meaningful way. Celebrate a birthday, acknowledge an anniversary, be a valentine, name one for your kids – there are lots of reasons to Buy-A-Shelf, Support-Your-Library, Name-A-Plaque, Do-The-Right-Thing, You-Get-The-Idea and your library gets the money!

Thank you!
