2008 Annual Report "It is our intent to position the Foundation as a significant contributor to the well-being, growth and continued operations of all local libraries in Jackson County. Our Board of Directors is currently developing plans for increased public awareness, a new membership program and fundraising events that promise to be illuminating, informative and fun. Babies in the Library A program where parents learn to read appropriate material to their infants, using rhymes, finger plays, and board books. Jackson County Reads An annual county-wide reading program that encourages people to read and discuss the same book. This year the focus was statewide and focused on Oregon history, specifically that of the Japanese-American experience during and after WWII. Ancillary activities are held in each library. Foundation Highlights And Accomplishments For 2008
- Partnering with Library for inaugural Jackson County Reads.
- Publishing an informative Quarterly Newsletter
- Partnering with Library for Volunteer Recruitment Grant
- Partnering with Library for beginning of Babies in the Library program through an early learning initiative grant from the Oregon Community Foundation. Babies in the Library also received a grant from Target Community Giving program.
- Financially supporting Storytelling Programs in Library
- Financially supporting Summer Reading program – Walmart grant of $25,000
- Financially supporting Outreach to the Homebound
