In 1998, the Foundation received two large gifts that acted as a catalyst to move the library expansion projects forward. JCLF took the lead in addressing the pressing need to acquire sites for new public library buildings in nine branch library communities.

The resulting Campaign for Site Acquisition was highly successful, raising over $2,000,000 in contributions and land donations. Local citizens, city governments, business owners, and foundations all contributed to the cause.

In May 2000, Jackson County voters approved a $39 million bond to rebuild 14 branches of the Jackson County Library. The 15th Branch, built with separate funds, opened in 2001.

In September 2005, Tier Two of the Library Expansion was completed with the opening of the Central Point library. Tier 3 includes the new Talent Library which opened in February 2007 and the Phoenix and Shady Cove Libraries which will open in 2008.

The Library Foundation has been pleased to be part of library development in Jackson County.
