What is the Jackson County Library Foundation?

The Jackson County Library Foundation is a private, non-profit 501c3 organization, established in 1982, and directed by a Board of volunteer citizens from throughout the county. The Foundation has as its Mission, to "help our library attain a level of excellence in facilities and services for the people of Jackson County".

Why should I make a donation to JCLF?

The Jackson County Library System is financed by the Jackson County Board of Commissioners who oversee the county budget. The basic county library budget covers operations and hours, not all the programs.

The Foundation is accepting donations today to help rebuild the many community programs in our libraries that citizens value so much. Jackson County residents who use library programs need to have those programs ready now that libraries have opened again and your donation can assure that happens.

A donation to the Foundation can pay for the cost of children's storytelling, summer reading programs, library outreach to the homebound, new library holdings and a host of other programs.

Just because libraries are open again does not mean we have the funding for library programs and services for years to come. All donations received today will be available for our present needs and our libraries future needs.

How can I give to my local branch library?

Anytime you make a donation to the Library Foundation, you will be asked if this is to be a donation to a specific library branch or to all the branches. You can now Buy-a-Shelf for any branch and the donation is sent directly to that branch. Your donation can also be directed to a specific program in any of the branch libraries, and the Foundation will always honor your request.

Does JCLF have an endowment?

Yes. For the future health of the Jackson County Library Systems, the Library Foundation has established an Endowment Fund with the Oregon Community Foundation. Through this endowment fund, contributions made to the Oregon Community Foundation can be directed to the Library Foundation for support of the Jackson County Library System.

This will assure our libraries will have the resources they need in the coming years to support technology and equipment upgrades, as well as continued collection enhancements and all the programs for library patrons. To find out more about how to make a donation to the JCLF endowment, click here.

Who are the Friends of the Libraries?

Jackson County Friends of the Library organizations are volunteers in the community who promote library services in their communities, advocate on behalf of libraries, and raise funds (often through used book sales; see Library News for dates of upcoming sales) to help pay for special programs and services. Friends have sponsored author visits, book discussions, open houses, and the Library's popular Summer Reading program.

Friends welcome new members. Each branch has its own Friends of the Library organization. To join or get more information, stop by or contact the branch in your community.

Does JCLF accept donations of books?

Yes! Click here to learn more about our Read and Release program. Each of the Library Friends Groups also accept donations of books to raise funds for the local branch. Contact your local Friends group through your branch library.
