In 1998, the Jackson County Library Foundation (JCLF) established a multi-phased Capital Campaign to help rebuild the library system.

Here are just a few of the Foundation's recent accomplishments:

Site Acquisition:

  • JCLF took a lead role in site acquisition for new public library buildings in nine communities. Click here to visit the Libraries Building Project Website and view the progress of construction!
  • In 1999-2001, JCLF successfully raised over $2 million during the Site Acquisition Campaign.

Central Library Enhancements Fundraising:

  • JCLF helped facilitate the formation of a Central Library Enhancements Committee. This group is in the process of raising financial support for Art, Garden, Technologies, and Collections enhancements.

Branch Enhancements:

  • JCLF is providing technical assistance and support to Friends of the Library groups for their community-based library enhancement campaigns.
  • JCLF works collaboratively with Friends of the Library groups to submit grant applications and approach regional corporations in community-based fundraising campaigns.
  • JCLF received a $125,00 challenge grant from the Ford Family Foundation in 2000. This grant award helped the communities of Applegate, Gold Hill, Eagle Point, and Ruch raise more than $250,000 from their communities to fund library enhancements. Applegate raised $152,000, including a donation of their beautiful farmland building site; Gold Hill raised $105,000, including the donation of the city-center building site; Eagle Point raised $108,000, including the donation of property that was sold to purchase their current site; and in Ruch, JCLF helped community residents raise more than $93,000 in just three months toward building enhancements.
  • The Foundation provided technical assistance to the Friends of the Jacksonville Library, who raised over $125,000 in local funds to support branch enhancements, including a 100-seat community meeting room and outdoor reading area.

Technology Enhancements:

  • JCLF is working toward raising financial support for the Technology portion of the Capital Campaign. The funding will go toward state-of-the-art computer hardware and software, audio/visual equipment, Internet access, communications technology, and self check-out machines.

Endowment Fund:

  • The Foundation has launched an endowment fund to provide ongoing support for library collections, programs, technology, and enhancement needs. A permanent endowment will further our public library's ability to meet the challenge of helping our communities build a library system that maintains a high level of excellence.
